Create passwords for clients and people working with you by logging in using the "Member Sign In" at the top of this page. Simply enter the USERNAME you were emailed when you signed up for your GigaDisk. If you don't remember it, contact us. "Worker" accounts can access anything in the "workers" folder and the "client" folders. Each client account can access their client folder (Account "client1" can access only folder "client1", etc). Workers and clients can read and write files in the folders they have access to, but can't see anything outside of those folders. To disable a worker or client account, simply change the password.
How do I send a file to someone? To send a file to someone:
The person whose email address you entered will receive an email with the password and instructions to access the folder into which you put the file, and a link to click to retrieve the file in any web browser. The folder in which the file resides is password-protected, so only those to whom you send the password email will be able to access your data. How do I have someone send me a file? They will mount your GigaDisk client folder on their computer, place the files(s) in it, just as if they were copying it to any other folder on their computer, and you'll be able to access the files immediately just by mounting your GigaDisk on your computer! How do I host a web site on my GigaDisk?
Your web site will appear at http://USERNAME.gigadisk.org/public, where USERNAME is the name you use to connect to your GigaDisk. To use a custom domain name for your site, use your registrar's "redirect" feature and enter the URL above. When people enter your domain name, your registrar will redirect their web browser automatically to your site. Updating your web site is as easy as changing files on your GigaDisk! * If you're using a web design program like iWeb or GoLive, you can publish the site directly to your GigaDisk folder! Just select the "Publish" option (or button), browse to your GigaDisk's "public" folder, and click "Publish" (or Save or Ok, depending on your program)! Your client will receive an email with a link to the web site. Can I host web sites with CGI, SSI, or PHP? Not at this time. I just signed up - what's my password? When you sign up, you will receive two emails. The first is sent immediately after you sign up and contains your payment information. The second will be sent when your account is activated. This second email contains your username, password, and connection instructions. This email my take from a few minutes to a few hours to arrive. We recommend that you log in and change your password once you receive it. If you signed up over 24 hours ago and have not received one or both of your sign-up emails, please contact us. Can I delete or rename the Workers and Client folders? Not at this time. If you rename one of the folders, your workers or client may not be able to access the folder you renamed. You can change the name back and it should work again. If you deleted the folder and re-created it, only you will be able to acces it. Contact Us and we'll fix the access to the folder. How do I cancel my account? We hate to see you go, and please Contact Us if you have any problems. If you need to cancel, you can do so here.
